I want to apologize in advance for the lack of reports.  I’ve been on the water most days from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.  I barely have time to eat, much less get on the computer and formulate a decent post.  I did want to summarize what we’ve been doing the past couple of weeks in Weldon.  The first week, the shad fishing was so good, we focused mainly on those.  There were some stripers around, but they were very scattered.  By the end of that week, the bite picked up significantly and we switched over to stripers everyday.  This past week was nothing short of spectacular.  Flows bumped up to 13k from 7k early in the week and this past Saturday, they bumped up some more to 15k.  On the morning that the flow increased from 7-13k, the bite was a little off.  We only caught maybe 30-40 that trip.  Every other trip (1/2 day) has yielded 75-150+ fish.  That’s triple digit half day trips.  Yesterday (Sat. morning) we caught between 150 and 200, all on jigs, by 11:30 a.m.  It can’t get much better than that.  If flow remains stable, we’ll have this kind of fishing right on through the next few weeks.  There’s tons of fish here, and the size is really good this year.  Many of our fish are in the 18-24 inch range.

I’ve had one last minute cancellation on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 30.  That’s the last day of keeper season. If you want to come experience this bite and get to take a few fish home, then I’d book it.  I also have a few openings left in May.  May 8(am, 13(pm), 16(am and pm) are open.  Let’s go fishing!
