Alex and his mom Dale experienced a wonderful winter adventure while striper fishing on the lower Roanoke River today. It was a rough start for me this morning. I dumped about 20 gallons of hot water from my water heater on the boat to try to “de-ice” the boat. That was like trying to shoot an elephant with a BB gun, so I headed to the car wash. There was a man there who had gotten one nozzle unfrozen, so I pulled up into the bay and spent a good 15 minutes blasting the ice off the boat. What a hassle…..ice/slot/extreme winter weather makes boating difficult.
Once we started, It took us a little while to find them but once we did, we got what we needed and then some. Dale caught herself a Roanoke River grand slam: striper, largemouth, longnose gar. Don’t let the weather keep you inside. I know cabin fever has set in by now, and I have just the cure! Next openings are March 17, 18, 24, 25, 29. Let’s do some fishing!
