Local Halifax County Legend catches first ever Roanoke River striper

To our utter amazement, the infamous Ralph Nelson, who now resides in Raleigh but is originally from Enfield, had never caught a striper from the Roanoke River. Ralph regaled us about some past partying adventures and the heyday of the small towns along Hwy 301 were like before I-95 was constructed, which had us  doing a little historical digging to question his stories and his age. A great day on the water.

The striper bite is a little inconsistent still and things have been a little late to develop this April; however the bite is improving everyday and should fire off any day. For the shadsters, the bite is still very good and we put a hurting on them yesterday afternoon. Perfect fishing for these young anglers.
