Lots of Big Fish in Heavy Water

Boy is the Roanoke flowing hard with this 35,000 cfs discharge from the dam.  It’s been lots of fun catching all these big fish in such a heavy current.  The jig bite has been outstanding early in the day and late in the afternoons.  When the jig bite dwindles in the morning, we’ll switch over to live bait and continue catching them throughout the day.  On many trips, we have seen double digit catches of fish in the non-keeper slot (22-27″) in addition to our limit of keepers and plenty of undersized fish in the 15-18″ range.  We’ve had quite a few fish in the 27-29″ range as well (10-15 pounders).  Below are some pictures to see what you are missing.

Pretty soon, we’ll be moving on to the Pamlico for our mixed bag fishing season this summer and fall.  I have a few openings in the near future.  Those are:

May 16, 18, 25, 26, 31   June 3, 7, 14, 24, 26-30

Give me a ring to reserve your late spring/early summer fishing trip!
