In Eastern North Carolina, many river fishing enthusiasts are more in tune with March “Shadness” instead of March Madness.  It’s easy to get excited about shad fishing.  The last couple of years, I haven’t made it up to Weldon for the peak of the shad run because I’ve been busy building my winter striper business on the lower end of the river.  Being from Tarboro, I grew up shad fishing on the Tar and Roanoke Rivers with my dad and friends.  I had almost forgotten how much I love shad season, but the past two days really helped rekindle the fire.  Dave, Bill, and Dennis enjoyed some of the best hickory shad fishing on the planet the past couple of days.  I just don’t know how it can get any better.  We caught around 150 the yesterday and easily 200 or so today.  I thought Bill was doing it yesterday with 9 doubles.  Today, I think everyone had 10 or more doubles.  We even had a triple.  Incredible fishing!

If you would like to get in on this action, which is some of the finest light tackle and fly fishing there is, then give us a call.  We can get you out on the water over the next couple weeks while the fish are around.
