PAMLICO MIXED BAG (Specs, Reds, Flounder, Stripers)

Tar-Pam Guide Service offers light tackle fishing trips on the Pamlico and Pungo Rivers for Speckled Trout, Redfish (Puppy Drum), and Flounder throughout the year.

These trips are excellent for light tackle enthusiasts who like to catch a variety of saltwater species in one outing.   We primarily use light action spinning tackle, but depending on the time of year and the conditions, we also target these species on fly tackle. Come catch a Pamlico River Grand Slam, which is 3 different species all in one day.  The beauty of fishing the Pamlico estuary is that sometimes you just don’t know what your next bite will be!  Fishing changes from year to year in the abundance of different species and the best location for fishing, so we follow the bite and fish a variety of locations up and down the river throughout the year.

Striper Fishing in the Pamlico River is one of our most exciting fisheries. We can catch Pamlico River stripers using a variety of artificial baits; however, our specialty is catching these brutes on topwater. Anglers will consistently have shots on 25-30 inch stripers on topwater baits. Those fish range in size from approx. 7-15 pounds. There is nothing more exciting than watching a 10+ pound striper crash your topwater lure again and again. This fishery is one of my personal favorites, and highly recommended for anyone who like topwater fishing or just catching striped bass on light tackle in shallow water. We target and catch stripers year-round on the Pamlico River; however, peak fishing is during the spring (March-June) and fall (Sept-Nov).
