Gary, Donovan, and Joe had fun pretty much getting bites most of the time we fished…..lots of action on small flounder, puppy drum, specs, and some BIG stripers that we can’t keep right now.  We did manage a nice keeper flounder and 2 nice keeper specs.  I bet we caught 30-40 fish today.  On the Pamlico River, we normally see about 1 keeper flounder out of every 8-10 small or undersized flounder we catch.  Lately it seems to be about 1 keeper out of every 20 or so fish.  Don’t know why we can’t find some 15+inchers.  Maybe just lots of young fish in the river this year………….OR…………..maybe many of the nicer ones are being caught up by, let’s say, more efficient means of catching those 15+ inchers.   It’s hard to tell but god only knows what we could have here if things were a bit different with our fisheries management in the great state of North Carolina.  It’s already good most of time, but it could be something really really special.
