Here are some pictures from some of our recent trips. The big drum bite remains steady on cut bait and on the artificials. I was able to catch a few fish on my new bait, the 9″ Whopper Plopper. It’s a pretty funny bait that is highly effective on many different species. I first used it smallmouth fishing with my friend Judson Conway in the mountains. I included a picture of him holding two smallmouth caught on the same bait during one of our trips with him this summer. The big one is 20″. They were crushing it, and so were the big drum this week…..just one of many crossovers between two different worlds of fishing. The light tackle bite also remains excellent, as we are really looking forward to some fall fishing. Capts. Scott, Kent, and Joe have done an excellent job guiding my extra trips this week. Capt. Joe Hawley from Belhaven is our newest Capt. on the scene. He has helped me with some of our open water scissor rig hunts over the past couple of years. He’ll be running his own scissor boat this year. He’s also done a lot of fishing in our area, knows the area’s water well, and is proving himself as a fine fishing guide and asset to our clients.
I am fully booked up for Oct. but can get you out on the water with one of the other guys if you can’t wait until Nov. I have Nov. 1, 6-9, 11, 18, 25. I anticipate the striper fishing to be on fire as well as excellent speckled trout and slot drum fishing through the Christmas holiday. Book you date now and let’s go fishing!
