Shad fishing on the Roanoke River has been decent. David Emmerling and I hit the Roanoke in Weldon this morning targeting hickory shad. With the release more water from the dam, the water is high and the current is ripping. Water temperature was 54 degrees. Fishing conditions are a bit tough right now. We had to work hard for our fish today, but we really enjoyed the good weather and spending a nice day on the river. The trees are about to bust open and the river will be nothing but green again in a few days.
