We ran our first spring striper trips in Weldon last Thursday and Friday and we had some good early season fishing with limits on each trip and plenty of fish in the slot (22-27″).   Conditions are starting to shape up for a good season.  Water temps hovered at 60 degrees. The river fell from 13,700 to 10,500 to 8000cfs and has been stabilizing since Friday evening.  Judging from our catches and what I saw on my sounder, plenty of fish have already arrived.  I have been getting great reports from downriver all the way down to Jamesville, so more will be arriving everyday to join the ones that are already up there.  I left my camera on the boat, which is up in Halifax, so I apologize to those who went last week for not being able to put up the photos. Stay tuned and keep checking the Fishing Reports page.  I should have them up by mid week when I retrieve my camera.
