Ralph and Kevin are from the Cape Cod area and ventured into new territory today to try the Roanoke River striper fishery.  They seemed very happy with our light tackle fishery.  We ended up with about 40 this morning and Ralph had some good action on fly.  I have to admit it was nice to see that long rod bend over repeatedly.

Today wraps up my season on the lower Roanoke.  It’s been a good one to say the least.  I fished just about every day in March and the fishing has been pretty much awesome since Christmas.  We’ve fished in everything from 35 degrees and gale force norwesters, sleet, and spitting rain to 88 degrees and balmy.  I’m going to enjoy a few days to recharge, but I’ll be ready for Round 2 in Weldon.   I’m moving into a new house in Bath tomorrow and will be getting unpacked while scouting out some topwater striper action on the Pamlico (and maybe some speckled trout) for an upcoming shoot next week with Joe Albea for Carolina Outdoor Journal.  Should be some exciting stuff showcasing what the Pamlico River has to offer.

Weldon will be starting up the week after next.  We’ll be getting up there sometime around the 15 or 16.  I still have the 14-17 open but after that spaces are limited until about the middle of May.

Here are my revised Weldon openings.  There’s still some time to get on the action.
