Striper fishing over the past week or so has been excellent for the most part. Since the river came up really high during the 35k cfs (cubic feet per second) release a few weeks ago, the fishing in the river has been in a funk. We had some catches of 15-20 fish all the way up to around 50 fish, but we had to work way too hard for them. Because of the that, we moved out in the sound and have been doing really well. Here are some pictures showing all the fun we’ve been having.
I still have just a few slots left for the spring striper season in Weldon with only 2 slots left during the keeper season in April. Remember if you want to have better opportunities on fly, topwater, and jigs, May is prime time for that bite if water levels are good.
Remaining Weldon openings: April , 24(am), 30(am and last day of keeper season), May 12(am), 13(pm), 14(am and pm).
