This past Saturday was the best day we’ve had among a lot of really good days lately. Gans and his crew from Greensboro were fortunate to catch about 120 stripers in the lower Roanoke. We found a really big school and commenced to bailing them, catching doubles and triples for a couple of hours. It was really special. Based on the number of fish we’ve seen on the lower end of the river this winter, the spring season in Weldon is shaping up nicely. I think there will be plenty of fish up there this spring. We’ll be heading up there for our first trip on the spring seas0n on April 10. Our last trip will be on May 19. I still have a few openings. Just a reminder about the keeper season……it’s open in April until the end of the month. May fishing is catch and release only, but really really good (my favorite time). Here they are……get one while it’s still open.
