Our winter striper fishing this past couple of weeks has been steady.  We have seen a nice class of fish, mostly in the 22-26″ range.  The Z-Man 4″ Diezel Minnow on a 3/8 ounce jig head has been the bait of choice.  I’ve been using mostly pearl, sexy penny, sexy mullet, and on occasion a few others.  The color doesn’t matter too much but sometimes they seem to like one more than the rest, so maybe on some days it does.  Here are my revised open dates.  Jan. is full and Feb. and Mar. are about half full and starting to fill up.  Don’t forget about our shad season in March.  We start catching them as early as mid-Feb. and the fishing is usually consistent until the first week in April. I have added a jet lower unit to my little 60 hp Yamaha on the 18′ flat bottom river skiff, so there won’t be any water we can’t access for the more elusive American Shad upriver.

Open Dates:  Feb. 1-2, 8-11, 14-15, 18, 22-23, 25-26  Mar. 1-4, 9-10, 15-16, 18, 26-27  Apr. 4-7, 9
