The Pamlico River has an amazing fishery. What I think is most interesting about fishing this area is the incredible variety of species that anglers can catch on a given outing. Today we started out topwater striper fishing. We caught some stripers, and then the wind picked up and ran us off the river up into the creeks to seek some more protected water. We then caught white perch, flounder, speckled perch (crappie), chain pickerel, and largemouth bass………..all on ultralights. Pretty fun stuff.
We’ll be going up to the Roanoke this week to see if the fish have arrived for the winter season. Stay tuned to the fishing reports page to see if that fishery has started to fire off. We’ll be offering trips on the Pamlico/Pungo and the Roanoke this winter. I think the fishing on the Pamlico will remain steady as long as we continue to have the mild weather we’ve been having.
