Sue and Joe had a great introduction to the striper fishery in Weldon. They are avid anglers, fishing all over the East Coast and beyond but had never been to Weldon, the “Rockfish Capital of the World”. Due to their extensive fishing experience, they were able to appreciate the spring striper fishery on the Roanoke River. We caught about a dozen small fish on artificials upriver in the current and when that bite slowed down, we moved downriver to soak some live baits. I’m glad we did because we caught some nice fish to fulfill our limit and also had some great catch and release action with a few slot fish and 2 tagged fish. Fun stuff! Thanks so much Sue and Joe and I look forward to fishing with you again this summer!
