The Cabos were Screaming Today

Conditions were not ideal for corking this morning, so we went bait fishing. These guys had never caught the giants of the Pamlico Sound before, so we just needed to catch some fish, irregardless of the method. That’s what we do here at Tar-Pam Guide Service…….we try to cater to your needs and particular desires, as this is your custom trip and experience.

John and the rest of us enjoyed hearing those Cabo 40 drags screaming this morning. We caught plenty today and had a great time doing it.

I can’t say enough good things about the Quantum Cabo reels. I’ve had some really terrible experiences with reels over my first years running this business. I’ve tried them all and I never do any maintenance other than washing them down with fresh water everyday and maybe adding an little grease or oil to the moving parts. The Cabos are rediculously tough. I’ve had no trouble with them over the past 2 seasons catching these big drum. We’ve had double digit catches day in and day out and they’ve never missed a beat. I’ve use the 40’s for corking and now I’m using them for my bait rods, as I notice virtually zero difference between the fight time of a big heavy action gimbal butt boat spinning rod coupled with a 6000-8000 series reel and the Cabo 40 coupled with my TFO rods. They are truly tough and have some really beefed up drag systems far superior to other brands. Last year during the epic corking bite, I burned up a couple of Shimano Stradic 4000 drags (replaced the felt washers with carbon fiber) and the Cabos are still kicking like they just came out of the box.
