Christmas has come Early!

Judging from what I found today, it looks as if we’ll be starting our winter striper season on the lower Roanoke a bit earlier this year. In past years, I typically haven’t started my winter fishing until after Christmas. Well guess what? They’re here!

Capt. Scott Wood and I hit the lower Roanoke today for a little pre-season scouting, and in typical Roanoke River fashion, our expectations were exceeded. Although Capt. Scott is a die hard trout fisherman, he likes catching stripers, too and was very impressed by the fishery. We ended up releasing about 75 fish in the 18-21″ range. Really Really fun light tackle fishing. Come enjoy North Carolina’s BEST striper fishing! I have plenty of openings!

In case you missed it, Craig Holt wrote a great article about this fishery in this month’s issue of North Carolina Sportsman.

Open dates: Dec. 12, 15-18, 22, 23, 29-31
