Fishing has been pretty darn good considering the water temp in the river today was 91 degrees. There are some slot and overslot reds around and if you get in a productive area early enough, they’ll be some topwater and fly action available. There have also been some scattered bull reds around. We aren’t really targeting them yet, but we’ll start next week. We’ve been coming across a few while fishing for the trout and slot reds. Hopefully they’ll be nice and spread out for everyone this year. The speckled trout bite continues to be outstanding. It’s been excellent all summer with easy limits most days. On most trips, we encounter some 23-26″ fish, which is really nice to see. Remember…..let those big fish go and spawn. The big ones don’t eat as well as the 15-20 inchers and the big girls carry so many eggs it’s a shame to let them not do their thing.
We’ll be sending out a newsletter in the next day or two, so stay tuned on a more elaborate summery of what’s happening now and what’s ahead for the fall and winter.
