After a tremendous drum season, we had nearly of week of near gale force NE wind and rain. We sneaked out the last couple of days for some great light tackle and big drum action, having to dodge a few rain storms on Tuesday and dealing with a little more residual wind than we would have liked. Today was beautiful………..perhaps the calm before the storm? The rain and thunder has already started with this approaching cold front.
We mixed it up a bit………some light tackle and some big drum fishing. Capt. Kent and Capt. Bryan did a great job putting some first timers on some nice drum. This young man caught his first (a 49 incher), and was beyond thrilled. He was sea sick but after putting this fish on the deck, he got a little pep in his step. I had light tackle trips both days and on each trip, we caught specs, puppy drum, flounder, and stripers. How’s that for some light tackle variety?
