A Great Ending to a Great Spring Season in Weldon

We had an appropriate ending to a great season this year. After 3 hours of fishing Saturday afternoon, we called it quits with Ward, John, and Walker reaching triple digits. Amazing fishing. There are tons of fish up there right now. This season, the live bait has really done the job. During some seasons, we catch alot of fish on plastics and fly, but this year due to water levels and timing, the bite was best on the live baits.

This week, we will start turning our attention to the Pamlico this week. I’m looking forward to some excellent speckled trout, puppy drum, and flounder fishing. We will be going back up to Weldon on Tues, Wed, and Fri of this coming week. The fishing is so good, I booked some late season trips. On Thursday (if the wind is calm), I also be venturing down to Lake Phelps to check out some sight fishing big largemouth on the fly and some of the best bream and yellow perch fishing this state has to offer….most of which is wade fishing. This might be our newest trip offering for the summer if I like what I see. I can’t wait to get my 4 and 6 weights bent. I’m looking forward to an exciting and busy week.

Check out some pictures from our striper trips on the Roanoke this past week.
