Today I had 2 half day charters and the fishing left a little to be desired.  With 2 footers rolling in from the sound, where our most consistent fishing has been,  and backing up the water in the lower rivers, we couldn’t fish the sound and had to fish the rivers, where the fish have been a little scarce over the past 2-3 days.  Conditions were tough, but with some southwest wind later in the weekend, we should be looking good for early next week.  I marked a fair amount of scattered fish that just weren’t biting due to the slack current.  I am confident that things will start to fire off when they let some water out of the dams and send some water down the river for the spawning run. There are plenty of fish in the Albemarle Sound that need to come through on the highway of love.

Keeper season is open in the rivers with anglers being allowed to keep 2 fish/person/day 18-22″ and 1 fish/person/day >27″.  This one made the ride home in the cooler and into the grease he went!
