We’re back it after the holiday. After some changing water conditions (several inches of rain and a surge of water from the dam in Roanoke Rapids), the river has risen and turned a little more muddy. That didn’t deter us from pulling out a catch of stripers. Guy and Skip had been giant red drum fishing with me before and decided to switch gears to some of the winter stripers. The motherload of fish that we located before the Christmas holiday had for the most part dispersed, so we didn’t find any huge schools of fish. We just kinda beat around and caught a few scattered fish just about everywhere we went. By the end of the day, we had a decent catch and a successful day. That’s what I love about the Roanoke. Even when you can’t find the motherload (they have tails and no home, so they move alot), you can still catch a scattered fish right along and do pretty well. This was all on Saturday.
On Sunday, we found the MOTHERLOAD again, and it was on. Harry and Mark had all the action they could stand.
OPEN DATES: Jan. 5-8, 13-16, 20-22, 26, 27, 30 Come getcha some!
