Capt. Hurley and I went up to the lower Roanoke yesterday to check on our winter pets. They are in the river, so our winter striper season has official begun. We found a nice bunch of fish. Conditions were not ideal, with a heavy wind out of the north, backing the water up in the river. We will be going back under better conditions and hoping for some big numbers. I have several open days left in January: 16, 22, 25, 29. Let’s get out there and enjoy some of North Carolina’s best winter fishing. We’ll be booking winter striper trips through the first week of March and then turning our attention to our spring shad season.
