Just a quick compilation from last season I put together from some random footage. Looks like fun and getting me excited for the summer.
Folks, we’re starting to get booked up for the prime dates during the giant red drum spawning season in the Pamlico Sound and River. We’ll be fishing out of the Pamlico River again this year. As some of you may remember, we started out our season on the lower Neuse, and fishing was a struggle in the Neuse River due to all the rain we had in July. Salinity levels were low, and the fish were more abundant in the Sound. That forced us to make a move and find some new fishing grounds. We were very surprised to find how many fish were right here in our own backyard, dispelling the myth of better numbers of adult drum in the southern sound and Neuse. We found that the bait bite was good, and when conditions were favorable, there were plenty of fish to be caught using the popping corks.
We will have a variety of lodging options available ranging from hotels in Washington to waterfront efficiencies in the Bath and Belhaven areas, all of which will put you within range of good restaurants and provide an overall enjoyable travel experience.
We plan on starting to target these fish well outside of the traditional “prime fishing season” from mid-August through the end of Sept. Some great fishing can be had as early as June. While double digit catches might not be consistently attainable in June and July, we think we will have a high chance at catching a few of these fish on corks in the mornings and going fishing for pups, flounder, and trout for the rest of the trip. Therefore, we’ll be offering COMBO TRIPS as an option for your 6 hour (3/4 Day) or 8 Hour (Full Day) Adventure. For those wanting to just target the giants, booking will be on a first come first serve basis and depending on your flexibility, I’ll put the early bookers in the prime dates first and as they start to fill, we’ll start working back into early August, July, and June for some of those wanting the combo trips.
We’re looking forward to another great season fishing the uncrowded waters of the lower Pamlico River and northern Pamlico Sound.
