We fished the Pamlico today and despite the the cold wind and lower water temps (52-54), we had an excellent day landing a great mixed bag of stripers, flounder, and speckled trout. We caught one really nice gator trout (22.5 inches) and one of the fattest stripers I’ve ever seen for it’s length (23.5). The fat old rockfish was screaming drag like a nice bull redfish, but to our surprise it had stripes and not spots. The trout was wearing a really ugly necklace (gill net scar) that I’m starting to see more and more of lately and it looked really ragged and stressed with a big chunk missing from its tail. That fish has been through quite alot in its day. Check out the pics to see. Fishing will only be getting better here on the Pamlico, so give me a call at (252) 945-9715 and get in on some good springtime action.
