Capt. Clark Purvis, his 5 year old son John Clark, and I caught 40 or so shad in Weldon today. The water was as low as I’ve seen it in quite some time and also very clear. We were only on the water for 2 hours in the late afternoon. They were all hickories, and some of them were large females full of roe. We had 3 doubles on the triple rig. No triples today but they will come when the fish get really thick. One shad on a light to ultralight spinning rod can be challenge, but you really need to experience having 3 on at one time. Call me at (252) 945-9715 to get in on some of the best ultralight and fly fishing the month of March has to offer in North Carolina.
