Speckled Trout in the Pamlico now and Looking ahead to Winter Stripers in the Roanoke

We caught the speckled trout pretty well yesterday. We ended up releasing about 20 specs of mixed sizes. Dennis and Kevin didn’t want to keep any, so I tagged as many as I could. There are quite a few $100 red tags swimming around in the river right now. Get out there and find one.

Here’s a report on North Carolina Sportsman’s website about our speckle and striper fishing:

Looking ahead to the winter striper season, my January dates are slowly starting to go. If you are interested in fishing for winter stripers on the lower Roanoke River this year, then get up with me soon. The fishing in January last year was nothing short of unbelievable. We caught over 650 fish in our first 4 trips last season. The fish are thick right now in the Mann’s Harbor area and they should be rounding the corner and coming our way just in time for the winter season.
