Dennis made a return trip from Long Island to tag some more stripers. Tagging stripers is his hobby, and he’s tagged more than 15,000 stripers in his tagging career. He also likes to travel around and fish. He really really likes the Roanoke River. Back in early Feb, we tagged 93. Today, we tagged 53. It’s alot of work and takes some time between bites, so we probably could have caught quite a few more if we weren’t tagging. If you retrieve a fish with a looped tag at the base of the dorsal fin as shown in the picture, you can call the American Littoral Society to report the tag info and receive your reward. Dennis brought 207 tags down with him, and wouldn’t let me keep any fish until all the tags were gone. We didn’t quite make it to 207, so I had country fried steak for supper instead of fried rockfish.
