Eric and Paul enjoyed some excellent light tackle fishing today. We ended up with about 20 puppy drum, keeping 2 slot fish for dinner and a limit of 17-21 inch trout. We threw back a few more trout and enjoyed pretty steady action all day. The boys brought their fancy spinning reels, and I got to try out a Shimano Stella for the first time today. Using it was like sipping a fine whisky or drinking a fine wine. It looks as if I might be down a few hundred bucks in the near future……..by far the finest spinning reel I’ve ever used. When I picked up my Stradic after catching a few fish on the Stella, it felt like I was using a Walmart special. Pretty cool but what made it even cooler was a fat 20″ speckled trout on the other end.
The speckled trout and redfish bite continues on the Pamlico River.
