Ventured out today on a little fowl weather scouting mission.  The wind was blowing a steady gale out of the NE and we had periods of light misty rain, but those are the kind of days a topwater enthusiast dreams about.  The conditions were just right and they were smoking anything we threw at them.  Most of the fish were nice 20-24″ keepers with our biggest approx. 27″.  We probably ended up landing at least 40 and who knows how many blowups we had……….unreal topwater striper fishing!  Out of all the fish I target on topwater baits, no other species can compare to a hungry striper on top.

The bait of choice for us today was the Rapala Skitterwalk.  The Skitterwalk is an excellent choice for those who love to throw a “walk-the-dog” style bait on a windy day.  It’s a little heavier than other baits and stays down in the water and maintains its action in a chop.
