Weldon Roanoke River Striper Report

I had J.C. Taylor from Charleston and Bertie County’s one and only Picott Harrington on the boat with me this afternoon and we caught some Roanoke River stripers on artificials. Who needs live shad minnows when you can catch em on the soft plastics, except maybe Picott, who prides himself more on his turkey hunting skills than his angling achievements. After a little hands on experience, J.C. seemed to pick up on the jigging concept pretty quickly while Picott picked up on the 12 ounce curls pretty quickly. J.C., being a redfish connoisseur and a lowcountry man somewhat deprived of our abundant striped bass resource in Northern Carolina, had never caught one. I was happy to give him the opportunity, and a good time was had by all. Give me a call to get in on some hot fishing!
