Sorry for the lack of updated posts over the past few days. Pulling doubles everyday takes up most of my time during the day and I’m not getting as much computer time at night. The bite has been consistent since we arrived on the fishing grounds April 10. We’ve been getting 20-50 fish on slower half day (5 hour) trips, and 50-100+ fish on better half day trips. Even on the not so red hot days, we’ve been catching a gracious plenty. If we can find the fish bunched up and unmolested by boat traffic, then we’ve been doing really well throwing the Z-Man StreakZ on 1/2 ounce jig heads. We are fishing just as we do on the lower end of the river in the winter. I really don’t know why everyone doesn’t fish with artificials. Live bait is overrated, except on those really tough days. Yesterday morning, we caught around 60 or so all on jigs, finding 2 nice schools and catching about 30 out of each school. We’ve caught our limit of keepers on just about every trip. Fishing is shaping up to be really really good this May. I’m looking forward to some excellent fly fishing and topwater action. Let’ hope for optimal river levels.
I still have the afternoon of May 19 open. It’s my last opening of the season. I’ll be taking this week off. We’re having another boy tomorrow. Wow! His name will be Henry. I’ll be back at it on May 8 through 21.
Here are some openings for Capt. Joey on the Beaver Boat. He’s been doing an excellent job lately. May 3(pm), 4(am), 8, 9(pm)
Check out all these pictures from the past few days. You, too, can be having this much fun!
