Tony and the boys hung in there for some tough fishing.  Even though the fishing was not red hot, we had a blast and enjoyed a nice winter day with low winds and some partial sunshine.  The Tar looked like chocolate milk from all the rain we had so we were having to knock them in face to get them to bite it.  We ventured downriver to check out some shallower areas where the water was a little cleaner and we didn’t find too much.  Let’s hope for some milder nighttime temperatures to get this water temperature up a little and fire these fish off.  We noticed a bass fishermen at the ramp wearing a helmet and we decided that it might be a good idea to put one on while fishing around Tony and his treble hooks………………….a narrow miss!

Take your protein pills and put your helmet on to fish around Tony

I will be heading downriver to look for some more congregated schools of stripers.   I have a sneaking suspicion as to where they are.  If my suspicions are true, I will have them all to myself and will only have found them through process of elimination.  I’d rather find then by eliminating areas where they are not than not find them at all.  I’m also heading down to the Neuse to check out the shad bite.   I’ve heard some fish are being caught and want to get in on some of that action early.  Stay tuned for more reports this week!
