I had the pleasure of carrying Peter Harvey from Queensland, Australia today. Peter enlightened me about the various gamefish that the Aussies target in his home waters. They have lots of fish and fishing is a big sport over there. Peter enjoyed seeing and learning about our resident striped bass on the Pamlico River and he was especially thrilled to experience casting soft plastics for saltwater species, which was a new style of fishing for him. We ended up catching a keeper striper for dinner, a bunch of undersized 1-2 year old stripers, and a flounder. I enjoyed a warm early spring day of fishing close to town and the pleasant company with which to share some memories and experiences.
