Fun times and new experiences on the Pamlico River

Today the bite slowed a bit. Success in speckled trout fishing on the Pamlico River requires you to not just be on the fish but to be on the fish when they are biting the best during that particular day. Sometimes that is a tough one to figure out completely and fighting a 20 knot NE wind all day made it even tougher. We caught specs on the morning and afternoon trips…….just not the numbers we’ve seen the last few days. I had lots of fun catching a few stripers in the early morning with Wes and Yohan and then going to catch some trout afterward. Yohan regaled us with some of his past fly fishing adventures and we discovered a new and effective way to catch stripers. This is what Wes had to say about his morning trip:

“Capt. Richard had a fun time today was great to meet you and look forward to going back out again let myself and Yohan know if there is a good bite on in the future and email about Drum fishing in August. Thanks again!”

In the afternoon, Mike, Jake, and Ronna fought some heavy winds in the afternoon and hung in there tough to get some keepers for the cooler. This is what Mike had to say about his day:

My family and I had an amazing time yesterday. We appreciate how hard you worked to get us fish. I got them all cleaned up last night and we plan on having them for supper tonight. We will definately recommend you to our friends and will be back to fish with you again soon. Thanks again.”
