OBX Fishing Report

On Friday, we had an excellent morning trip with Hawk and crew. They are lucky and usually fall into some great fishing. On Saturday morning, we had another excellent trip with David Hayes and crew. During the afternoon trip, the E/NE wind kicked up and the water level dropped dramatically from the wind tide, leaving many of our drum fishing grounds high and dry. We struggled to catch 3 out of about 6 or 7 bites. Today, the water levels came back up a little as the winds subsided overnight but the drum haven’t really returned yet. They haven’t gone too far. Hopefully they will in the next day or two. With the light East wind and incoming tide (perfect conditions for flounder fishing), we decide to turn our attention to the flatties. It paid off. We had plenty of action and didn’t have too many keepers. I went back out late this afternoon for a little research and development to try to catch consistently bigger fish……..and it paid off.
