In case of any you have noticed, I love to fish a flowing river. Fishing for speckled trout, flounder, and redfish in the estuarine portion of our river during the warmer months is fun, but I really really love to float a river in the winter. Let’s get out on the water and catch some winter stripers and early spring shad on the Tar or Roanoke. I just bought a new old 19′ flatbottom skimmer and in the coming days I’ll be putting a new old 60 hp Yamaha 2 stoke that is begging to explore some skinnier water up the rivers. Let’s go catch some skinny water stripers, shad, and bounce that lower unit off some logs and sand bars for a true eastern North Carolina river adventure. We are having a relatively mild winter and enjoying the beautiful weather on the river every day.
Feb. 23 is my last opening for this month. Here are some openings for March: Mar. 6, 8-9, 13-16, 20-24, 27-30.
