Pamlico Fishing Report: Winter Redfishing on the Pamlico

December 2025 and January 2026 has been fun chasing schools of redfish in the shallow bays and flats of the Pamlico River. We are finding schools of reds ranging from 15″ to 30″. Some days have produced 50 or more fish while others have been more of a pick with just a handful of them hooked. This fishing greatly depends on the weather, as the winter reds are reluctant to eat when water temps dip below the mid-40’s. Even after a cold night and cooler water temps than we’d like, we can often get them to bite in the afternoons as the daytime sun warms the water enough to fire them off for a little afternoon snack. If you’d like to experience some of North Carolina’s best winter time redfishing, then reach out about booking your next adventure. We offer these trips in the winter until the end of February, where we then turn our attention exclusively to our shad migration in March.
