Rich, Shawn, Jamie, and Dan’l came back this year for some more Pamlico giant red drum action. They are all accomplished Chesapeake Bay striper fishermen from the Middle Bay area. Dan’l lives in Knoxville and is an accomplished stand up bassist and can often be heard playing with one of my favorite bluegrass musicians of all time, Jerry Douglas, the master of the dobro. I guess there is a connection between bluegrass and drum fishing. Last year, they got a taste of the corking bite and wanted some more. This year, we focused more on topwater fishing, as these guys really wanted to see some big blowups. We got the blowups and had a great time seeing some big holes and bent poles.
The other Capts have been steadily producing on the corks. Capt. Scott caught 9 yesterday.
