Yes. That’s Right. It’s as good as I’ve ever seen it. I think we averaged well into the triple digits for our 5 hour half day trips. We may have had a couple of 50-60 fish trips, but the 250-300 fish trips bumped the average way up. It’s so good, we can’t buy enough live bait to keep up with the bite, so on many trips, we’re just cutting them in half or in thirds and putting them on the bottom. The jig bite is on fire as well as the fly bite. Some guys are catching 150-200 fish/day on the fly. I had s0me awesome groups with many father-son/daughter groups and family groups exposing their younger anglers to some quality fishing. Water levels are at 6000 cfs and water temperatures are well into the high 60’s with this heat wave. The fish are now spawning and they’ll be around for another week or two (maybe longer). This past week was very very good. Maybe this coming week will be even better? We’ll find out as we start the final week of Weldon 2018.
The forecast looks favorable for the Pamlico. Capt. Scott ran a successful trip out of Bath for me this past Friday. He caught some nice-sized stripers and trout. We are looking forward to a great season of mixed bag fishing, especially the early summer topwater striper fishing in the river. It was epic last year. Upcoming openings are:
May 31, June 1, 4-6, 11-12, 14, 19-21, 25, 27-30
