We fished the Lower Pungo River and caught speckled trout, flounder, and puppy drum, an inshore grand slam for this area. On many occasions, light tackle anglers can catch an inshore slam or even an inshore super slam by adding a rockfish to the first three species. Sometimes in the mid-summer months, lucky anglers can even achieve an inshore fantasy slam, which includes a tarpon in addition to the other 4.
