More slot drum action on the Pamlico

What an action packed day we had fishing again in the marshes of the eastern Pamlico River. Mike, his son Jeff, and his daughter Ashley have recently relocated to North Carolina from Michigan and wanted to check out some of our Inner Banks fishing. They were completely overwhelmed by the serenity and beauty of the water we fished. They were not also disappointed by the fishing, as the slot drum bite was on. We caught mostly 20-23″ reds and had a few other species to round out the inshore slam. We caught a slam the first place we stopped in the morning. Lots of rod bending action on these hard pulling slot drum. I use primarily light and med-light Signature Series Temple Fork Outfitters spinning rods. They are quality, high performance rods and well matched for our mixed bag fishing. When you get one on a 7′ light TFO spinner, you are in for a battle.
