Pamlico Flounder Fishing

Barney, Evan, Don, and I had a great day on the water catching 20 or so flounder, 1 speckled trout, and 1 striped bass. Despite stumbling onto some fish every once in a while and having a few decent days on the water throughout June, The late spring fishing this year has been somewhat inconsistent as a whole. The flounder have been scattered, the trout hard to find, and the reds non-existent. However, things are finally starting to look up. The flounder are getting more concentrated and some drum (both pups and giants) are starting to show in the eastern Pamlico River.

Barney Kane is an amazing person. He is one of the toughest men I have ever met. He is 75 years young, has been battling Lymphanic cancer for over a year, has a disabled hand making casting difficult, and you would never know it. He threw over 100 casts today with no complaints whatsoever and caught the biggest flounder of the day. He was a pleasure to have as a fishing partner today, and he is truly a delightful and remarkable person. Thanks for a fun day fellas!
