Pamlico Speckled Trout Fishing

We’ve been having some great mixed bag fishing on the Pamlico. I took last week off to move into a new house in Bath and shoot a great topwater striper episode with Joe Albea for Carolina Outdoor Journal. Joe said it’s going to be a great show. It should be airing sometime in October.

This morning I was back at it with the Robinson clan. We caught 40 or so speckled trout of mixed sizes……..many of which were nice. Too bad we can’t keep them. You can pretty much walk on the trout in some places right now and we can’t even keep our mere 4 fish/person/day limit. What a joke. Despite the stupidity of the state, we had a great time catching and releasing fish. There’s also quite a few flounder around as well.

I’m heading up to Weldon tomorrow to kick off the spring striper season. Even though I’ll be up there until mid-May, give me a call if you want to go mixed bag fishing on the Pamlico. I can set you up with a number of quality, entertaining guides who will put you on some fun spec, flounder, striper, or redfishing here on the Pamlico and Pungo Rivers.

Here are some picture from this morning and from this past week:
