The Urquhart clan from Tarboro enjoyed a speckled trout bite today that was better than I’ve seen in quite a while. We kept our 4 person limit and threw back 2-3 times that many 17-20″ fish. It’s shaping up to be a classic fall speckled trout season, as we are finally seeing good quantities of larger fish after our winter kills in 2013/14 and 2014/15. All it takes is one mild winter and the resiliency of the species with their multiple spawns throughout the warmer months, and we are back in business with the trout fishing.
