Testimonial from Some Slow Fishing

Over the weekend, I fished with Tom Olivo, redfish enthusiast and world traveling fisherman, from Bozeman, Montana. Man I’m disappointed he came from so far away for so few fish……..but we’ll get em next year. I want to ensure everyone that you will receive 110% effort on every trip regardless of the fishing. That’s what you are paying for. This is what Tom had to say about his experience:

“The NC Redfish Expedition with Captain Richard Andrews was a grand experience where we had perfect weather combined with a first class setting at the River Dunes resort (see attached photos).

The fishing (catching) was significantly “off” the typical seasonal pattern due to the local weather and migratory timing of the redfish. As a result, the giant Red Drum have not really arrived yet on their annual spawning run up the rivers and are probably about two weeks behind their usual spawning cycle timing. Capt. Richard is one of the finest guides I’ve ever retained. He is knowledgeable, experienced, extremely hard-working and “fisherman centered” to create a memorable overall experience for his clients.

Shawn Stinson and I fished two twelve hour days and only managed to hook 4 fish and land three. The three that we landed were:
• 39.5” x 21.5” and 24.15 Lbs.
• 35.5” x 19” and 17.0 Lbs.
• 36” x 20” and 19.04 Lbs.

We fished 95% of the time with top water poppers that were attached to rubber artificial imitations and about 5% of the time with Cut bait (mullet). We are looking forward to next season where we will fish a few weeks later in the season to better time the Redfish migration (just after Labor day).”

Thanks again Tom and Shawn for sticking it out and remaining focused.

Here are a few really cool pics from their trip.
