Ben and Terry drove up from Lake Waccamaw to try their luck on the Roanoke River for the Spring Striper Spawning Run, and they really had teh opportunity to see what all the hype is about. On a 6 hour trip, we ended up with around 125. I lost count, as it seemed all that I did all day was land and dehook fish. We caught about half of them on live bait and the other half on artificials. I pulled the boat out of gear at 6:30 just below the big rock and after a really long drift, I didn’t crank the big motor up again until around 10:00. We were off the water by 12:30.
There were fish stretched all up and down the river, with some stretches showing some amazing large schools of fish. It blows my mind to mark that many big schools of fish on my bottom machine. More fish are coming every day, and the bite is RED HOT!
