Nobody is showing up for some of the best fishing of the season. We were hoping to turn our attention to the Pamlico this week, but with all the fish still in Weldon, it’s tough to leave them. We’ve still been catching 50-100 stripers per half day in Weldon mostly on live bait. There’s been about 3 boats on the water each day. The water is high, and the jig fishing has been doable but challenging. The live bait bite is still phenomenal. 9 year old Grayson caught about 50 by himself this morning. Fun stuff for this young angler.
We didn’t make our trip to Lake Phelps this week due to high winds, but stay tuned. Next week is it. We’re gonna bust some nice bass and bream on the fly.
